Homeless - Part 12

Hi'ya,

Hope you are doing well. As for me, still doing the 3 R's - reading, writing and working out...and enjoying some pool time. Been kind of rainy here over the past four weeks with few sunny breaks in between.

I met my first homeless people in North Dallas; never thought I would meet any since I keep to myself these days. The first one approached me outside a quick shop saying that he had nothing but the clothes on his back - white male, late thirties, brown hair/eyes, unkempt facial hair, approx. six feet tall and 190 lbs, poor dental health. I talked with him a couple of minutes to get his story. Whether it was BS or not, I did get the sense from him that he lacked hope, that he was defeated by circumstances and accepted it. I told him that I was in a similar situation and couldn't help and walked away.

The second individual was a white male, late fifties, 6'2" and 180 lbs, lot of unkempt facial hair, poor teeth. He had a small plastic bag that he said contained all he had. I was standing about a meter from him on the sidewalk and he reeked of poor hygiene. He said he needed to get to downtown Dallas and needed a lift but didn't have any cash for fuel. I told him that I was sorry that I couldn't help...plus, he was a little odd.

I don't know their circumstances, how they are coping or what their ultimate goals are but I hope that they make it the best they can.
